Julie walked down the teeming walkways of the crowded mall. "Shopping?" she thought, "This is more like, dodging" Then she saw him. His piercing sapphire eyes stared at her with anger and hurt. His gaze, set to shatter glass. He had spotted Julie. The girl who had hurt him so deeply with the two words, "I care." She was a liar, like the rest of them, decieving in strange ways.
"Where’s your cigarette?" she coolly demanded with an air of superiority.
He looked strangled, confused, hurt, but most of all angered.
"Why did you do it?! Why did you say it?!" he yelled.
"Say what, do what?!" questioned Julie
"You know what you said and did. Don’t play games with me."
"I’m sorry" stated Julie
"Huh? You’re apologizing?" said the confused boy.
"Look -if I did anything to make you this mad, it’s probably something I should be sorry about."
"You’re doing it again! Stop it. I said leave me alone. I don’t need you."
This is one screwed up kid, she thought. He stood there, expecting a response, but Julie had none.
"It sure is crowded in here" commented Julie.
"Yeah" replied the boy forgetting his anger for a moment.
Fate made itself present once again. Julie found unfamiliar words flowing from her mouth.
"Do you want to walk around outside with me?" she asked, stunned at the words she had spoken. But destiny helped her along.
"Um..Yeah, okay" he replied unsurely, stunning both him and Julie equally
They walked out of the mall side by side, both happy to be let out of the zoo like enclosure. No words were spoken, but feelings were understood. Thoughts did not need to be let out, for that is how destiny works. Lives were controlled without a second thought. A plan did not need to be made. They did not know each other, let alone each others names. But fate, destiny and luck do not need names, they only need souls. The pair just walked, and walked, not aware of the time that passed, nor did they wonder about their fate. They did not try to understand what had just happened. There was no need to. Fate, Destiny and Luck were the only answers.
As with everything, it came to an end. He walked into his house with a mere utterence of the simple word that explained a lot.
"Later"
"Yeah, later." she replied.
She silently walked back home, not thinking about what had happened. It was not normal, but it fit into place. The second step in her path had been chosen. There would be many more. Some hard and others easier. But as each step was passed, another one would come.
